LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - It's been two years since the fatal shooting of two children at the Holiday Inn. The accused gunman is now back in court as the date for his final trial approaches.
It was Demond Bluntson who shot his girlfriend's six-year-old son Jayden Thompson at point-blank range in a hotel room. His one-year-old brother was also shot and died at the scene. The mother, Brandy Cerny, was found dead later that day in her hometown of El Campo, Texas.
Bluntson is charged for all three murders.
Friday morning's hearing is based on a request for Bluntson to represent himself in the case. He told 49th District Court Judge Joe Lopez that his attorney is not on his side.
Another hearing is set for May 6th.
