LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Details about the ban of plastic bags in our community are becoming more clear after City Council voted on a move that would change the way that Laredoans do shopping.
The new regulations would not only affect shopping at the groceries, but also at the mall and other retail stores. Each time you had to check out, you're encouraged to take a recycled bag. If you don't, according to the new rules, the cashier will charge a dollar.
Tonight on KGNS News at Six, reporter Christian von Preysing brings us more details on this ordinance expected to take effect as of next year, and how it's not only plastic bags that the city wants to reduce, but also paper bags.
