School may be ending soon, but school districts across the country will be busy adjusting their school menus for next year. The new dietary standards are part of an initiative started by First Lady Michelle Obama. The goal is to reduce the childhood obesity rate. Over the last two years, schools have offered healthier food. But more changes are coming.
“There's a time line for the sodium restriction from 2010 to, I believe, 2021. Every few years, they're reducing that sodium allotment. So, next year is one of the years that they're going to implement a sodium restriction."
