LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - In honor of International Women's Day, students at Christian Middle School had a special movie screening.

This was all in hopes to share, inspire, and educate the community. The students were shown "Girl Rising," a film that depicts the importance of education in women and how in under-developed countries education is not always an option for some of them.

"This promotes the girls to stay in school, the importance of education in females, the development of these ladies into the future leaders of the country, as well as future leaders in the businesses that we have today," said Olga Salinas, of Ceva Logistics.

The goal is to inspire young girls to advance not only in their careers, but to encourage them to pursue a higher education and to go move ahead, despite any obstacles.
