LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - A south-side recreation center could soon see some much need improvements.
Thanks to some left over funds from last year, the City of Laredo wants to make the Cigarroa Recreation Center safer for the youth.
With students getting out of school at the end of the week, the park will be used more than ever.
The city hopes to put in some water fountains, irrigation system, some shade structures and sidewalks.
The city will be reallocate $160,000 to be used towards the project.
This money is left over from community block development grants from last year that were not used.
This recreation center was identified by City Council members to be improved.
Improvements would start after it passes through two city council meetings.
That first meeting is 2 of June.
If can't make it to that city council meeting, but would like to make your voice heard, the next meeting is June 16th.
