LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- Changes are coming to the City of Laredo's plastic bag ordinance.
City Council will hold it's first public hearing on Monday.
The biggest change is charging people a dollar per transaction to use plastic bags.
If you bring reusable bags, there would be no charge.
Council is also considering lowering the standards of reusable plastic bags.
They want to lower the thickness so some department stores won't have to charge for bags as well.
Another change council wants to make is with paper bags.
Now, they will add that stores will not have to give out paper bags to those who do not want to pay the one dollar plastic bag fee.
