LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Pack your bags, Laredo! You're going to the nation's capitol!
This is an annual trip to Washington, D.C. to advocate for federal
funds and policy changes. This will help with many local issues in the community that have a regional or national impact, such as health, security, environmental or water or transportation issues.
Because of the many relationships established by local leaders with U.S. senators, representatives, and many federal agencies, federal funds continue to pour into Laredo to help fund various projects and move the city forward.
Leading the delegation will be Council Member Alex Perez, Jr.; Council Member Roque Vela, Jr.; and Council Member Jorge Vera; Mayor Raul G. Salinas will be joining the delegation on Wednesday.
Highlights of the trip include a meeting with both Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Congressman Henry Cuellar will be hosting a meeting of all Texas Members of Congress for Laredo elected officials.
The trip begins on Sunday, March 2nd and wraps up Thursday, March 6th.
