LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- The City of Laredo Fire Department receives a grant to purchase new ambulances for several fire stations.
The department recently received four new ambulances to replace part of the existing fleet.
The ambulances were purchased with proceeds made available from the City of Laredo Community Development Block grant.
The department also added three new suburbans for EMS Supervisors that go out on special duties.
"These four ambulances were on a schedule to be replaced the ones that we donated to Nuevo Laredo, at one time were part of the fleet for the fire department but this was way back and they were beyond repair on our behalf so they were donated for Nuevo Laredo," said Laredo Fire Department PIO Victor Lopez.
The new ambulances have improved lighting to increase visibility and scene safety.
