LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - Ezra Flores, a 6th grader at Clark Middle School, is one of two South Texas students chosen to receive a USTA (United States Tennis Association University of Texas Longhorn Summer Camp) Scholarship.

Students from across the state of Texas competed for the scholarship by composing a tennis related essay.

Katy Rogers, USTA South Texas Liason said that Flores’ essay, entitled King of Tennis, was a moving composition about how he would improve the game and encourage his peers to become more physically active.

“Ezra has developed great insight about tennis at an early age”, said Rogers.

Flores has been playing tennis for two years and plans to continue playing into adulthood.

“I love the challenge of tennis and look forward to learning new techniques at the camp”, said Flores.
