LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Judge David Peeples is holding the first hearing on the temporary removal of Commissioner Mike Montemayor.

Both parties, with one consisting of Mike Montemayor and his attorneys Jose Becerra and Oscar Vela, and the other party consisting of County Commissioner Marco Montemayor, have agreed to temporary suspension.

The temporary suspension will not take effect until Judge Peeples decides who will take Mike Montemayor's place. That decision was not made Thursday.

Starting Friday, April 11th, at 5:00 pm, people who live in Webb County Precinct I can begin applying for the open commission seat. Applications will be accepted on the county's website (webbcountytx.gov). The application process will remain open for one week. The selection will be made by Judge Peeples, and is, for now, considered to be a temporary position.

Tonight on KGNS News at Five, Six, and Ten, Noraida Negron has reaction to the agreement and tells you how you can apply to fill the vacant position.

And once again, if you want to fill out an application, be sure to visit the county's website at www.webbcountytx.gov.
