LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - Webb County Commissioners are considering an increase in the tax, and they are having a public hearing during Commissioners Court Monday.
Last year, the county property tax rate was 0.42. That rate raised over 67 million dollars in revenue - a portion of which was used to fund maintenance and operations such as roads and bridges, law enforcement and other projects.
This year, Webb County is proposing a tax rate of 0.41, and that rate will raise over $74 million, which is more than $7 million over last year.
Commissioners are having a public hearing Monday at 9:00 am, and a second hearing on September 8.
