LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - A Democratic candidate for the US Senate makes a stop in our city.

David Alameel made a stop Tuesday at the Kiwanis weekly meeting to talk to the members about his upcoming campaign and his platform.

Alameel is a Democrat who is running for US Senate against current senator and Republican John Cornyn.

We spoke to Alameel on what he hopes to accomplish if elected for office.

"I want the people of South Texas and the people of the Valley to know that its their turn," said Alameel. "They deserve their American dream, they deserve education. A first class education. They deserve economic development, they deserve industrial jobs with good pay and good benefit, and they deserve the same share of opportunity as any other city and country."

This is the fourth time Alameel visits the Gateway City.
