Dog safety for the summertime

Summer is a time when children are outside more often, and are more prone to being bit by dogs.

If the dog is about to attack, try to put something, anything, in between you and the animal.

LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - Summer is a time when children are outside more often, and are more prone to being bit by dogs.

If a dog threatens you, here are some tips to avoid being bitten:

- Don't scream.

- Avoid eye contact.

- Keep very still until the dog leaves and then back away slowly.

If the dog is about to attack, try to put something, anything, in between you and the animal.
