LAREDO, TX (KGNS)- Vandals strike a local recreation center and leave a lot of broken glass in the aftermath.
It all happened at the El Eden Recreation Center shortly after closing hours. Vandals threw rocks and other objects at the front of the building, resulting in a broken window and a broken glass window from the front door. Laredo Parks and Leisure P.I.O. Eddie Millian calculated the costs of damages.
"It's gonna come out to about $2,500, and that's about half of what we spend per month on vandalism alone," said Millian. "We average anywhere from $40,000 to $60,000 on vandalism and it gets to be very costly."
Millian said he hopes to meet with Laredo police soon. He said other acts of vandalism also happened in the park adjacent to the recreation center.
This is an ongoing investigation and we'll have more information as it develops. If you have any information on the situation, call Laredo Police Department Crimestoppers at 956-727-TIPS.
