LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- Now for an update to a story we brought you last week about a World War II vet receiving help from the community.
93-year-old John Berry was in desperate need of assistance when after a routine wellness visit community members would be alerted to his living conditions.
Throughout the weekend, volunteers went to Mr. Berry's house doing improvements to the yard, cleaning the inside of his house, and just making his living situation a little more comfortable.
Juan Flores is the one heading the project and says the community support has been great.
Today volunteers worked on putting up a new fence.
