LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - The two candidates for Justice of the Peace Precinct IV were guests at Tuesday's Kiwanis meeting.
Yu-Hsien Huang Del Rio and Jose "Pepe" Salinas spoke about the issues facing Precinct IV, and plans they both have if elected.
"I'm going out to the streets, and talking to people house to house, and being on the corner making myself more visible for the people so they will understand that there's still the runoff election going on, and it starts the 19th to the 23rd of May," said Jose "Pepe" Salinas.
The two candidates say they are spending their days talking to residents about why they should go out and vote in the runoff election.
"In the runoff, we have the benefit of knowing who voted the first time, so instead of focusing on 34,000 registered voters in Precinct IV, my focus this time around has been on the 9,700 voters that went out to vote, so that we can entice them to go back out to vote and make an impact in Precinct IV," said Yu-Hsien Huang Del Rio. "So we have to let them know it still matters, and I need you to go out to vote again."
Early voting begins May 19.
