LCC summer dance course offers healthy alternative

Keep your body fit this summer with the gentle sways of ballet at LCC.

LCC dance instructor Silvia Jones will be heading a summer ballet course focused on body health starting June 9.

LAREDO, TEXAS (LCC) - Keep your body fit this summer with the gentle sways of ballet at LCC.

Laredo Community College is offering a summer ballet course this June that will focus on the basics of ballet and body health.

LCC adjunct dance instructor Sylvia Jones said the course is a perfect way to keep healthy while having fun.

The dance course will focus on stretching, strengthening, sculpting and in improving body alignment.

Jones graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in ballet/theatre and continued her dance studies at Southern Methodist University.

She has taught at the Austin Ballet Academy and is the owner and director of Ballet Preparatory Academy in Laredo.
Registration for summer session 1 is ongoing through June 5. Classes start June 9 and will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Students must get advised by setting up an appointment during the week with the Performing Arts Department, or by taking advantage of Saturday services on May 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Memorial Hall, room 125, at the Fort McIntosh Campus.
