Children from 18 months to five years old will ride one lap for every pledge received.

St. Jude's Children's Hospital

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Students from the Camilo Prada Child Development Center will put the metal to the pedal to raise funds for cancer research.

This is for the 8th annual St. Jude’s Trike-A-Thon on Friday, March 7th. The event will support the efforts of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Events like the Trike-A-Thon have helped increase the survival rate of children who visit St. Jude’s from 20 percent to 80 percent in recent years. Some 68 children, whose ages range from 18 months to 5 years, will ride one lap for every pledge received.

St. Jude’s is an internationally recognized organization for pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay.

The community is encouraged to donate to this worthy cause by calling the Camilo Prada Child Development Center at 794-4561.

The event will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Laredo Community College South Recreational Complex. For more information, contact Public Relations Specialist Rolando Santos at or 956.721.5140.
