LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- LISD Police Chief Richard Palomo confirms that a Nixon student was detained after a call that he had a gun on campus.

It turns out that gun was a toy gun that looked real.

Never-the-less, it caused quite a stir on campus.

LISD Police say an 18-year-old was detained and is no longer a Nixon student.

He's now at the Lara Academy, a campus for students who get in trouble at their home campus.

Teachers who called us say they are upset no one was informed about the incident. They learned about it from their students.

This afternoon a spokesperson with the district told us the incident never happened. Again, it did happened as confirmed by Laredo ISD Police department.
