Laredo, TX -- Young people have the opportunity to learn about nature with a variety of educational programs at Lake Casa Blanca State Park.
"We do birdwalks. We do butterfly walks. We do dragon fly walks," said Holly Rinehard, a educational coordinator at the park.
Rinehard said children should be encouraged more to spend time outside.
A proposal on the Webb County Commissioners agenda would approve a grant application to secure $30 thousand from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department to fund similar programs for at-risk youth.
Lake Casa Blanca Superintendent Lonnie Cook said the grant would be spearheaded by the Webb County Sheriff. Programs would be run at the state park.
