LAREDO. TEXAS (KGNS) -- People who need to pick up a report from the Laredo Police Department can take advantage of an alternative right from their homes.

The police department has renewed a contract with a company in North Carolina that gives people an online option for their reports.

A lot of people come in to the police department for case reports, background checks, and accident reports but you can also log in with policereports.us to get those.

It is not a city site, but they work with the Laredo Police Department to make those records available.

As soon as a report is filed, approved by a supervisor, and put up for storage, you'll have access to it there.

Public Information Officer Joe Baeza says the reports are there released as soon as you make a payment.

The filing company will get $3 to $4 of the fee they charge for access.

The Laredo Police Department has expanded its digital efforts to include an anonymous texting tip program and social media pages to connect with the public.
