The shooting range has been open for about a month, but under new requirements.

LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- The Laredo Rifle and Pistol Range has been open for a little over a month now and with that comes several new rule changes.

Most of the modifications to the new rules are due to insurance liability.

Before members had their own key to enter the shooting range, now members can only go at certain hours.

The new hours for the range are Wednesday through Friday from 3 PM to 8 PM and 8 AM to 8 PM on weekends.

Members are no longer allowed to bring guests.

Treasurer for the range Bobby Aldame says the county commissioners felt that anyone that enters the range must be a member.

The clubs biggest problem is implementing the physical changes.

The 500 meter range is closed, while some other ranges still need to be altered.

Aldame says once the club has a stable contract with the city, they hope to apply for grants that can help them make those modifications. Aldame says in just a little over a month, the club has signed up more than 45o members.
