"Cesar Chavez, as you know, was simple, brown, ordinary man that did extra-ordinary things," said Saenz. "He is, and he was, the champion of the Mexican-American agricultural worker. The migrant worker."
The LCLAA was also promoting the recent formation of the Cesar E. Chavez Memorial Alliance of South Texas. This non-profit promotes education, better working conditions, and purchases jobs.
"He fought for injustice, he fought for equality, and he offered his life basically to the improvement of those conditions and his people," said Saenz.
