LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- The City Council hosted a special meeting today to talk about an expansion in the Mines Rd. area.
It's the annexation of a 3,500 acre property on the north side of Mines Rd.
In addition, it would lead to more development in that area.
Council member Jorge Vera presented a chart of a beltway that would connect the Mines rd. and Highway 35 with the goal to alleviate traffic in the La Bota, Green Ranch area.
He says taxpayers should not expect to pay more.
The annexation came after the request of the single owner of that land.
That addition would mean a growth of six percent for the City of Laredo.
City staff are working on a service plan that would address fire, police and water needs for the area.
