Laredoans enter guilty plea, connections to the Mexican mafia

LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- A big federal court case involving the Mexican mafia.

Two more Laredoans have entered guilty pleas.

The husband and wife join 21 others who have plead guilty to charges connected to massive drug trafficking and money laundering scheme.

Carlos Contreras and Rosa were named on the indictment alleging distribution of heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine.

Government records show they have plead guilty to conspiracy.

Both are facing a lengthy sentence and Carlos at possible $10 million fine.

The government is seeking forfeiture of a home in the lake side subdivision valued at more than 300,000 dollars.

Local and federal law enforcement from Laredo, Austin and San Marcos all assisted in the investigation.
