LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - This morning KGNS received phone calls from parents at Nye Elementary, that they were not able to drop off their kids.

The school was on lockdown for a short period of time as a precautionary measure.

This is due to the fact that Border Patrol was in pursuit of a vehicle with immigrants inside.

Agents were able to stop the driver of the vehicle on Village and Martingale, and arrested five undocumented immigrants.

According to Border Patrol, there were three men and two women among those arrested.

Also, Border Patrol and UISD want to stress that the immigrants nor agents were on school property.

An lockdown takes place this morning at Nye Elementary School.

UISD ordered the lockdown when parents were dropping off their children, causing a delay in traffic.

This was caused by the prescence of three illegal immigrants around the area. Although the immigrants were never on the Nye Elementary campus, they were all arrested by Border Patrol.

The lockdown has since been lifted.
