LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - UPDATE
Councilman Jorge Vera was present Wednesday at a special meeting of the Laredo City Council.
His attendance came less than 24-hours after he says he was questioned by Laredo police regarding his truck and the drug related arrest of another man.
Police were called to AJ's bar in the 9600 block of McPherson Tuesday night.
They say they received a tip that someone was allegedly selling drugs out of a truck in the parking lot.
After having a drug dog go over the truck, police arrested 24-year-old Jose Degollado on a charge of "tampering with evidence".
They say the dog detected a powdery substance in the truck.
Vera told KGNS news over the phone Wednesday morning that the truck belongs to him.
He says he approached police only after realizing that it was his truck that was being searched.
Vera says he believes his truck was broken into.
He says police questioned him about the truck, and allowed him to go on his way.

Police Investigator Joe Baeza says police received a phone call that someone was allegedly selling drugs, out of a truck, in the parking lot of AJ's Bar, in the 9600 block of McPherson. When officers showed-up they spotted a man, detained him and ran a drug detection dog through the truck. Baeza says the dog detected a powdery substance in the truck and the man, 24-year-old Jose Degollado, was arrested for tampering with evidence.
The truck that was searched by police is owned by Councilman Jorge Vera. Vera told KGNS News, over the phone, that he approached police when he realized that it was his truck that was being searched. He says it was his belief that his truck was broken into. Vera says he was questioned by police and immediately released. Since KGNS' phone conversation with Vera, Wednesday morning, Vera is referring all media questions to his attorney.
