LAREDO, TEXAS (City of Laredo) - Yesterday, Cms. Vela and Garza not only took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, but also invited all of Laredo to go to the Lemurs game tonight and be a part of breaking the record of 200 people taking the ice bucket challenge simultaneously.

They also challenged their fellow colleagues on council, including the mayor, to be a part of this movement that is sweeping the nation, all to help the cause of finding a cure for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

On Thursday, Mayor Salinas got a bucket of ice water dumped on his head. In fact, $300 was raised to donate to the ALS foundation for the mayor to experience this cool sensation.

Afterwards, he challenged Webb County Judge Danny Valdez and the remaining Webb County Commissioners who have yet to take the challenge to plunge in.
