LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - A new sign is serving as a symbol of the growth and development in North Laredo.
The Texas Department of Transportation and local leaders join to unveil the sign for I-69.
This is a new designated interstate that serves as a symbol of increased mobility and economic development for South Texas.
"It means two things," said Congressman Henry Cuellar. "It means that there will be more federal dollars that will come in after this designation, so we are expecting more federal dollars."
Congressman Cuellar says that Laredo is the only inland port city that has two large highways.
