LAREDO, TEXAS (City of Laredo) - For the seventh year, the Laredo Public Library’s One City, One Book program invites the entire community of Laredo to read, learn and share a common experience by reading a powerful, thought-provoking book by a modern-day author.

This year’s selection is The River Runs Salt, Runs Sweet: A Memoir of Visegrad, Bosnia, by Jasmina Dervisevic-Cesic.

This book has also been selected by Texas A&M International University as the Global Read for the freshman class.

Also, a film depicting the lasting effects of the senseless hatred and horrors of the Bosnia War on the innocent Muslim and Serbian children will be screened on August 20, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Laredo Public Library HEB Multi-Purpose Room.
