LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - It's a strange and unfortunate discovery for one webb county rancher.
Over the weekend James Leal found all 13 of his horses dead at a pond on his ranch near Mirando City.
He says he last saw the horses alive last Wednesday, when he went to feed them.
Some he had owned for 20 years.
The Webb County Sheriff's Office is investigating what's going on but they won't comment further.
The rancher called the taxes Railroad Commission and a local feed store to try to figure out what could have been the cause.
Leal estimates that each of those 13 horses was worth about $2 thousand. He says six of them were pregnant.
