LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- A Laredo attorney who is no stranger to politics wants to be the next city councilman for district eight.
Roberto Balli was joined by supporters on the steps of city hall Monday night for his announcement to run for the office.
Balli is a well-known local attorney who has been both a prosecutor and defense attorney.
He says he sees a lot of potential for growth in district eight and the city he loves.
"What we want is for the city to move forward and I'm running for city council to help this city and move this district forward, which includes downtown and San Bernardo which are very important areas that need to progress and i see the potential and I want to make sure that the city and the district moves forward," said Balli.
Balli is now one of a number of candidates wanting to fill the seat soon to be vacated by councilwomen Cindy Liendo.
