LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - One of the most expensive items to purchase when raising a young child are diapers, but one local organization is doing what they can to help the community.
SCAN is hosting its first ever Diaper Drive for the month of April, all in hopes to collect and distribute diapers for those families who are going through financial difficulties at this time.
"It's very important to give back to the community," said Veronica Jimenez, of SCAN. "There's a lot of us that have more then what we need. There's a lot of families struggling right now. The economy is bad, and there's not a lot of jobs. There's a lot of families struggling with buying certain essentials not provided to them by the government."
People can go and drop off the diapers at SCAN, located at 2387 E. Saunders, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
