LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- The U.S. Border Patrol in Laredo says that several agents in the Rio Grande Valley have contracted scabies as a result of contact with detainees.
Even though the skin infection has not been reported among agents here in the Laredo area, they say that they're taking protective measures to make sure agents are checking detainees for rashes and using protective equipment.
A news outlet in the valley reports that 10 to 25 percent of detainees in their area have the infection but claim none of the agents have been infected.
