Sheriff's office deputies arrest two on theft charges

These arrests culminate almost a year-long investigation.

Laredo, TX (KGNS) – Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Tuesday and Wednesday arrested two local men resulting from an almost year-long investigation involving the theft of a tactical rifle from inside a patrol unit.

Valentin Ochoa and Gilbert Del Corral, were arrested Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, and charged with burglary of vehicle, class a; theft of firearm, state jail felony; and theft of body armor, class a.

Both men were remanded to the Webb County Jail in lieu of a $150,000 bond each set by Justice of the Peace Oscar Martinez. Ochoa was arrested on the 6200 block of McPherson Road and Del Corral was arrested on the 1500 block of Calle del Norte.

Ochoa and Del Corral are suspects in the April 12, 2013, incident involving the theft of a DPMS tactical rifle and two bullet proof vests from inside a Webb County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit.
