LAREDO, TEXAS (Webb County) – A traffic stop by Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies early Sunday led to the arrest of a local woman on possession of marijuana charges in a drug free zone.
Samantha Maureen Briones, 18, was arrested near the intersection of Espejo Molina Road and Peña Street, and was released from the Webb County Jail Sunday afternoon on a $3,000 bond.
Briones’ arrest came as a result of a traffic stop, and as deputies approached the vehicle in front of Juarez-Elementary School in Rio Bravo, they noticed a strong smell of the marijuana. Upon searching the vehicle, deputies learned Briones, the passenger, had the narcotics inside a flask hidden in her purse and also concealed inside her shirt. In total, deputies confiscated more than one pound of marijuana.
