LAREDO, TX (Webb County) – Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies Wednesday afternoon intercepted a small dosage of marijuana intended to make its way into the Webb County Jail.

Laredo Police Department initially brought Alberto Bautista, 21, to the jail on criminal trespass and failure to identify charges.

However, during intake procedures, a correctional officer found a small amount of marijuana inside a plastic bag hidden in his body. He was later charged with prohibited substance inside a correctional facility.

He remained at the Webb County Jail Wednesday afternoon without bond on all three charges.

Sheriff Martin Cuellar lauded the work of the correctional officer who found the marijuana and thanked him for his attention to detail.
