LAREDO, TEXAS (Webb County) – An investigation conducted by the Webb County Sheriff’s Office Organized Crime Unit led to a home where more than 350 pounds of marijuana were hidden.
When investigators arrived at the location early Saturday morning they found a man and a woman inside the residence. Upon receiving consent to search the home, they located 17 bundles of marijuana stashed underneath the trailer home. The marijuana, weighing approximately 355 pounds, has a street value of more than $180,000.
The suspect, Omar Casarez, 29, was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana in a drug free zone. An additional arrest is pending upon further investigation on this case.
“We want to remind the community to always report suspicious activity,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar. “That’s why we are here, to investigate and make sure our streets are safe.”
