LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - The first day of spring is here, and the Texas A&M International University is celebrating in a unique way.
Holi, a Hindu celebration, is known as the festival of colors and celebrates the beginning of Spring. During the festival, participants splash each other in vibrant colored powder or colored water.
The celebration dates back to many Hindu legends associated with the triumph of good over evil and gives people a chance to play and dance. The celebration is one of many cultural awareness events co-sponsored by the TAMIU Campus Activities board, Greek Council and Office of Student Affairs.
The festival takes place on the Senator Judith Zaffirini Success Center front lawn. For more information, contact: Triana González, associate director of International Engagement, 326.2565.
