As the ice challenge phenomenon goes strong online, several Laredoans are doing their part to help raise awareness and fight ALS.
Webb County Judge-elect Tano Tijerina stepped up, taking a bulldozer's worth of ice water on Wednesday afternoon.
He was challenged by KGNS reporter Valerie Gonzalez, and in true form, Tijerina threw down the gauntlet and made a challenge of his own, calling out Dr. Marcus Nelson and Bobby Santos with the school districts, the heads of TAMIU and LCC, as well as Jorge Hinojosa from Kaplan College.
So far, the ice bucket challenge has raised 23 million dollars for benefiting ALS awareness nationwide.
