LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - A collaborative effort between Laredo organizations is in the works to improve tourism in the city.
The Texas Historical Commission met with several Laredo entities to begin a series of workshops on how attract outsiders to the Gateway City.
The three topics they hope to highlight are Laredo arts, the eco environment and the border culinary culture.
"One of the important things to point out here is that Laredo is very much, very independent," said Blasita Lopez of the Laredo Convention and Visitors Bureau. "To have the state of Texas come and highlight something that's so very personal and so very wonderful about our community and that they recognize that, someone in Austin is looking at us in a very positive way."
The workshop is set to continue once a month, for the next six months.
