Ford trucks top the list for the most stolen vehicles last year. Chevrolet's come in number two. Dodge trucks are third.

Carlos Rodriguez drives a Silverado. He said he hasn't had any problems with this truck, but has had a car stolen in the past. He doesn't use any type of security device on his vehicles.

"I recommend them to do it but if they want the truck, they are going to get it one way or the other no matter what you do. That's the way I feel, somebody wants your truck they are going to get it."

The Laredo police department said there are a few things drivers can do to help prevent theft. Police say something as simple at locking your door can prevent it from being stolen.

"Buying something that will cost you $20, like a steering wheel mechanism like a club. Anything like that would actually prevent you from becoming a victim because basically it will take them longer to get to the vehicle. They would rather move on to a vehicle that is just down the street that doesn't have any of these things."

The longer the potential thief thinks it will take to steal the vehicle, the more likely he is to move on somewhere else. Also, make sure to not leave valuables in your vehicle; That will give the thieves another reason to choose your vehicle.
