TxDOT holds meeting, speaks about Laredo maintenance

LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- TxDOT hosted a public meeting to discuss improvements they plan to make to Laredo roads.

It's important to keep up maintenance on our roadways for Laredo residents, as well as commercial drivers.

The Texas Department of Transportation, Laredo district, hosts a series of open house style public meetings as part of TxDot's Rural State Transportation Improvement program.

TxDot in Laredo is responsible for eight counties: Dimmit, Duval, Kinney, La Salle, Maverick, Val Verde, Webb and Zavala. A lot of what TxDOT plans to do is whats called pavement preservation.

What that means is anywhere there's cracks or potholes, TxDOT plans to patch up.

Keeping up with the maintenance of the roadways for the safety of the traveling public.

Mines road, US 83 and Interstate 35 are some of the roadways TxDot will be doing work on.

Besides safety, keeping up with the maintenance of these roads will also benefit Laredo's economy.

The main corridor for commercial traffic here in Laredo is Interstate 35.

If you missed Monday's meeting, you can still be part of the discussion.
