UISD preps new teachers

LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- The new school year is just around the corner and one school district is prepping their new teachers to the district on what to expect.

Over 150 teachers attended the United ISD new teacher orientation program.

The sessions support teachers that are new, both to the profession and to UISD, in starting their year off successfully.

Over the next four days, they will learn about the district policy, technology, content presentation and classroom management.

"Being a teacher has many benefits," new teachers Armando Molina said. "Being able to impact students, not just one or two, but I mean you see 30 kids per block so I'm really excited to be able to do that. I would hope there's other people who always want to impact our youth because you're seeing them from 8 to 4 you have a huge part in their lives."

Over half of the new teachers will teach in elementary schools.

The first day of school will be August 25th.
