The law suit is now in the hands of a different judge.

Oscar J. Hale was the former judge in this case.

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - There is an update on the case of the candidates in the March elections being sued by other candidates who claimed their applications to run were not valid.

A hearing in the law suit scheduled today was cancelled. The hearing is being rescheduled after the judge in the case re-focused himself.

The law suit was being heard by 406th District Court Judge Oscar Hale, but he has now put the case in the hands of Judge David Peeples, a visiting judge from San Antonio.

Two of the nine candidates named on the law suit are Jaime Canales and Jose Valdez, Jr., who are in the run-off elections this May.

There is no new date set up as to when the new judge will hear this case.
