One is about to open, and the other may take a little longer to complete.

Fasken Library

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - The Barbara Fasken library, is not just a library. It will be a community center as well. The city will hold it's grand opening next Friday, March 14th. From four to eight in the evening, everyone is invited to come in and check out what all it has to offer.

The community center will have a senior center, exercise equipment, basketball court and indoor track. That's on top of the library that will be equipped with brand new books and computers.

“They've never had a library on that side of town. And that population is growing so much. So it was fine time they have one. We are going to have computers, books, story hours, summer programs, practically every story that we offer at the main branch,” said Maria Soliz, Library Director.

The library will be open to the public but you will need to join to be able to use the community center. You can register at any community center. The fee is $50 per year, or $15 for three months.

The south Laredo library is still under construction. They do not expect to open until this summer.
