LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - A local student's piano skills lead him to do amazing things!

Enrique Rangel is a senior at United High School who has been playing the piano since he was 11 years old.

"I definitely plan to keep music and piano in my life, always," said Rangel. "And I always plan to be very active in the arts."

He entered an international competition called "American Prodigy," where he competed against hundreds of competitors from all over the world.

Rangel won the competition and played the piano in New York City's Carnegie Hall on April 20.

"It was completely surreal," said Rangel. "It was a magnificent experience. Once in a lifetime you get to play at the Carnegie Hall. It's such an experience that one lives for."

Rangel was accompanied to New York by his mother, father, and little brother.

He also has a passion for Biological Science and Medicine, and got into a medical program at the UT Medical School in San Antonio that he will start later this year.
