United High School Welcomes L.C.C. Mobile Education Center

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - High school students are always trying to achieve opportunities for a better education, but now the opportunities are coming to the students.

United High School administrators, teachers, counselors, and students welcomed LCC's Mobile Education Center (M.E.C.) to their campus. The Education Center is loaded with many computer stations for students to go for completing college admission applications, grants, and scholarships. LCC Academic Advisor Araceli Duran said the M.E.C. assists high school counselors by offering students another outlet to prepare their college and financial aid applications.

"The unit expedites services to graduating students and underclassmen who wish to start their applcation processes at an earlier date." said Duran.

During the month of February, the unit also stopped by J.B. Alexander High School, L.B.J. High School, and United South High School. The project has also established routes for high school students in Zapata and Hebbronville. The M.E.C. was obtained through a grant from the Pioneer Foundation.
