It's getting hot outside and with summer fast approaching you can expect the temperature to rise from the mid 90's to the triple digits. The city will discuss making changes to the current water conservation ordinance and Laredoan Tim Hinds thinks saving water especially during the summer months is a good idea.
“We’ll I think its a good idea. It's obviously hot and we need to conserve our water.”
If the change to the ordinance is passed it will require homeowners to water their lawn using a hose-end sprinkler system or automatic sprinkler system three days a week. Daniel Franco has his sprinkler system on a timer and says that's the way to go. He also protects his sprinkler heads by using pipes to protect them.
"A sprinkler system is the way to go cause you can set the timer for specific days. Sometimes people might run-over them but this way they’re protected.”
During the summer having fun with water is a must. Many kids will be hitting the pool and having fun with their friends. For 7-year-old Scarlett Hinds and Abigail Torres they love the summer months and whether it's helping their parents in the yard or playing in the pool they always have fun.
“I like to play in the pool and splash around.”
“I help my dad water the yard. Sometimes I get wet but it’s ok I have a bathing suit.”
