LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) -- The amount of money spent on phone service was one thing discussed today at Webb County Commissioners Court.
Commissioner John Galo called some spending unacceptable.
Galo says that for years, the county has paid high long distance fees for land lines at one county facility.
"The Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program school, which was almost here in the Webb County City limits, but it's a different area code, so they've been charging us 70 cents a minute for every phone call they made here in Webb county," said Galo. "This had gone on apparently for nine years and it's ridiculous that it's just been audited and brought at this time."
Galo says an audit found the county was spending $10-thousand per month for phone service at the juvenile justice school.
